Bridging the Gap Between Poverty and Prosperity

About Us

Maroon Solis CIC collaborates with other organisations to provide the marginalised with equal access to opportunities, alleviate the effects of homelessness and bridge the gap between poverty and prosperity. Our mission is to empower these individuals by providing access to essential resources such as food, shelter, and healthcare, as well as offering guidance and support to help them regain their independence and improve their quality of life. Through our dedicated team of volunteers and community partners, we are committed to making a positive impact in the lives of those we serve. Our vision is to live in a world where stigmas, prejudice and ill-judgement no longer prevent an individual from accessing and receiving the support they need.

Programmes

Push, Plant and Prosper (PPP)

Push, Plant and Prosper (PPP) is a holiday club offering free childcare to Merton residents from disadvantaged, low-income, and marginalised backgrounds, including children with special educational needs (SEN) and disabilities. The programme aims to provide equal access to opportunities for children and their families, working to bridge the socio-economic gap between the East and West of Merton. Through a combination of provisions, PPP helps families address vulnerabilities heightened by the economic crisis and the pandemic.

The “Push” component encourages zero-emissions travel by providing bicycles and walking opportunities, promoting both environmental awareness and healthy lifestyle choices. “Plant” focuses on tackling food insecurity, teaching participants how to grow produce and cook meals, with a hands-on, team-based approach. “Prosper” equips children with budgeting and decision-making skills by involving them in real-life scenarios that inform outreach work for the homeless, fostering social responsibility and communication skills.

PPP seeks to equip both adults and children with the necessary resources to foster resilience and disrupt the cycle of generational poverty through educational and hands-on approaches. By offering fresh and meaningful experiences, the programme addresses challenges such as social isolation, inactivity, social anxiety, food insecurity, low self-esteem, and other poverty-related issues.

Moja

Moja is a cultural celebration highlighting the heterogeneity and contributions of black individuals to British history, whilst raising awareness of the institutional barriers and social inequalities they face in the UK. Recognising the importance of social capital, Moja aims to foster social cohesion through interactive experiences that encourage audiences to reflect on and evaluate their relationships with Afro-Caribbean communities. By providing a platform for underrepresented and disadvantaged individuals to showcase their talents in sound, film, art, and literature, Moja creates opportunities for cultural expression.

Whilst Moja is an experience curated by black people, it is intended for the purposes of entertainment, self-discovery, education and networking, for all. We believe in building diversified communities through cultural expression and acceptance.

Darién Gap

Known for its dense rainforests, swamps and dangers, the Darién Gap symbolises the often impassable gaps in support systems faced by vulnerable young people. Just as travellers must find creative and safe routes to navigate the perilous terrain of the Darién Gap, young people in the care system, justice system or at risk of exploitation must navigate complex, broken systems that fail to provide clear, supportive pathways.

The Darién Gap Programme aims to bridge the gap between systems for young people aged 14-25 who have experienced involvement in the care or justice systems or exploitation. These young people often face multiple disadvantages, including trauma, instability, gaps in education, and social isolation. These challenges affect their emotional regulation, mental health, educational attainment, and overall life opportunities. Through collaborative peer intervention techniques (CPIT), targeted skills development, emotional support and community engagement, the programme equips participants with the tools, wisdom, and adaptable skills needed to navigate the complexities of life and create positive futures.

MS Homes

Maroon Solis CIC is set out to provide a clean, warm, safe and homely environment in which residents can feel safe and independent. We are dedicated to solving complex needs of residents who often have an array of additional support needs and are even more determined to bridge the gap between homelessness and prosperity.

We aim to provide all of our residents with a high standard of support and living. With the knowledge that we will often support residents who have experienced trauma, abuse, neglect, violence, estrangement, etc; we believe that homes such as ours can create an impactful and measurable contribution to societal advancement and improvement.
